Hi,

I've been able to hear quite a few acoustic versions of Cock Robin songs on the Internet, often complete with video.
My opinion is: it does not do justice to the songs!!
Most Cock Robin songs are very 'powerful' and have a lot of energy in them. And most of that gets lost when the songs are just played on a guitar or piano/keyboard by Peter.

I would be interested to know how other Cock Robin fans think about this.

Bets regards,
Mark.

I don't really agree with you, I think the acoustic version of a song always gives the opportunity to hear or discover a song in a different light, at a new angle. It usually also allows to better showcase the voice of the singer(s) and their harmonies which are sometimes buried in the initial mix of a song.

Anna and Peter sang a lot of acoustic versions of some of their songs during their last concerts (I recommend the video that Sandrine has put on her site of their acoustic version of 'El Norte' during the Lille concert which I was fortunate enough to attend Very Happy ) and it gives a kind of closeness, of intimacy with the audience that is priceless.

I also love the version of Just Around The Corner on the VHS of their Grand Rex concert in Paris and I find this version poignant, Peter's voice is incredible and it gives the song an intensity that is perhaps different to the original version.

I agree that it perhaps takes away some of the 'power' or punch that a song may have, but by stripping it of all its arrangements you discover how strong Peter's melodies are and how well they can stand on their own...

I love the acoustic versions I have heard of Just Around the Corner, as well as the full mix. The acoustic songs of Cock Robin are very rich with emotion and Peter's vocals can just stand alone... truly gifted is he!
I love the different feel you get from the acoustic songs as well as the full band sound too. Anna is amazing and just shines! You should check out the recent voila videos... on this site in the French Forum section. You may change your mind! It's nice to be able to hear both versions of songs from Cock Robin.

Hi, I´m Dino, from Spain.

I bought Cock Robin's last CD and I am slightly disappointed. The version of Body over mind in acoustic is sensational, emotive, it wakes up sensations i did not remind since For experience's sake ... but i listened to the version of the new album and i don´t like it at all. I´m waiting the acoustic one . The album is not bad but I think that they have fallen down in the mistake of looking for new mixtures(mixings) when the public who was waiting for this cd was wishing to return to the group´s roots.

Sorry for my english.

I do prefer all the old C.R. tunes and style as well. Perhaps that is what caused us all to fall in love with them in the first place. That said, I am just so elated that they got back together and made a new CD and toured that I have no disappointment. I think for all of us old time fans it's a dream come true and so exciting! It would be very difficult, I think, to replicate some of those older songs and sound. My favorite on the new CD is "Through the Years". In it I can sense some of that old emotion and passion. Hopefully we will continue to hear from them in the future Very Happy

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
