Greetings...
I am so pleased to hear all the news of CR's return to Europe. We are just not hearing much at all here in the US.
Thank you Georges for bringing me up to speed and inviting me here. _________________ "Show me the love of a friend

Welcome to you Magpie. I didn't know that Cock Robin had fans in the US, I only thought of them as an European success story... |

Regis, that´s a joke right? Bit painfull that you think they only have fans in France! Maybe you should google a bit and expand your knowledge about CR and their fans. |

That was a joke indeed, hence the at the end of my message: No need to panic Are you American or an English native yourself if I may ask (your profile doesn't mention it) ? |

Hi Christina
Thanks for your interest. I am French indeed but have been living in England for more than 10 years now (my goodness, that long !) where I've tried to teach French to those lovely English children (not an easy task, trust me ). I've been a Cock Robin fan since 1987, when my elder brother, who is a musician, gave me their second album as a birthday present and since then, I've been hooked!... What's your background? |

Well Regis, never knew that English children also were thought French. In Holland it is more common to learn foreign languages I guess? When I´m visiting France (spent many hollidays in the south of France..) I can manage in French, but when someone speaks to fast I´m lost very quickly....
In the eighties when CR was the most succesful, I liked them a lot but back then I had very small children who took up most of my attention. Some years later I started downloading their music from the internet and it all came back to me! I also searched for songs from Peter and Anna individually and found ´Only the very best´. I was blown away!!
After that I started to purchase all of Peter´s solo albums. They are very different from the CR music but I also liked them a lot. Except for ´Mon Inconnue´, but maybe that is because I don´t understand the lyrics all that well.
Ik regularly checked sites and forums on the internet and that´s how I learned about their new cd en new concerts. Because I´m not a very patient person and couldn´t wait for them to come to Holland, I went to see them in Lille. I could hardly believe it, after so many years that they were only a few feet away from me!
I also bought a ticket for Bruxelles, but that concert is being cancelled, so maybe next year I will have another chance...!
Have you ever seen them perform? |

| I certainly did see them perform, first in 1990 during their "First Love/Last Rites" tour in Grenoble, that was quite unforgettable but we probably met without knowing it because I was too in Lille for one of their comeback concerts on 20 June (Lille was the closest gig from London for me than all other dates)... That was great too. After the concert, I waited for them to sign autographs and managed to chat briefly with Anna and Peter (being fluent in English was quite an advantage then, even though Peter is fluent in French having lived there for quite a while) and at length with Clive who told me about the band's breakup in 1990. That was really interesting and unexpected, very surreal, really! |

He only mentioned the record company that was a bit awkward with them, very snobbish and that the band had a difficult relationship with the PR guys about the fact they couldn't get a real breakthrough in the States... |

Well Regis, which row were you sitting in Lille and what side(right or left)?
Unfortunately I didn´t get a chance to see them after the show. I went outside when it was finished, asked if there was any possibility to have a drink there and when the aswer was no, went back to my hotel. I should have gone back into the theatre! Oh well, I sent Anna an email to thank her for a lovely evening and she send me a kind reply. Maybe next time I have to be less shy...! |

Unfortunately I arrived late (well, half an hour before the concert was due to start but all the "good" seats were already taken ) so I only managed to sit on the right-hand side, at about 5 or 6 rows from the front... which was not too bad and I still had a good view. It was was quite an enjoyable experience even though I must admit that the sound balance was quite awful on some songs, I doubt that the sound engineer had done all the ground work properly before the start of the gig...
I just waited for them outside the hall at the back and the wait was quite long because I discovered later that they were giving an interview for the French TV just after the show (when I saw the piece of news on TV)... They just appeared from a side door and I managed to meet the 3 of them, that was quite exciting |
